Meet the Poet:
Melody Norton
Melody has built a career around her love of words and culture. As creator and operator of Unfeathered Ink, she offers online courses, creative & spiritual coaching, diversity-centered consulting services, & creative writing events designed to support self-expression, healing, intersectional experiences, and intercultural spaces. As a lifelong poet, she looks forward to expanding her presence behind the mic and publishing her second book later this year. Melody’s work is influenced by her experiences as a veteran, trauma survivor, advocate, mother, and spiritual being, and it heavily incorporates mythology, fairy tales, natural & mystical elements, as well as anthropological perspectives and historical references.
Publications
Book one in a five-book series, Athena Underwater, is Melody’s debut work. Each book is titled after a goddess; we start with Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, war, inspiration, the arts, justice, and more. Within these pages, you will find a poetic memoir woven with the magic of myth and fairytale. Included are stories rooted in history, lore, and lineage. Travel through the pages on an exploration of discovery, growth, new beginnings, and continuous healing cycles while living in the shadows of grief and trauma. Above all, Athena Underwater is a tribute to the matriarchy, sisterhood, kinship, Mother Earth, & a fighting spirit.
